Desktop Wallpaper

Hello Glimpsers!
I have been asked by several people how they could use the pictures on this site for their desktop wallpaper. I will discuss a couple of ways to do this that are not difficult at all.
The first, and easiest way, is to click on the photo you want to use on the Canandaigua Glimpses website and it will open up in another window at a better (higher) screen resolution. You will then right-click on the picture and depending on what browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) you are using you will see one of the menu items will say 'set as background' or 'set as desktop background'. Highlight this option and left-click it. You should get a screen that asks whether you want to center the picture or stretch it. Choose stretch in most cases. That's it! You're done!
Another way you can do this is to again click on the photo to open it at a higher screen resolution. Then right-click the picture and save it someplace on your hard drive (Probably 'My Documents' in the 'My Pictures' folder). Next go to the Control Panel command. Once there you should double-click on the 'Display' icon and it will bring up the display options box. Okay, now left-click the 'Desktop' tab at the top of the box. Click the 'Browse' button on this page and use the explorer box that opens to locate and select the photo you saved. Under the 'Browse' button it says 'Position' with a drop-down menu. Use this to choose the stretch option and then click 'apply' at the bottom of the box and your done.
I hope you enjoy the photographs I post on this site and you are welcome to use them for your desktop wallpaper if you like. If anybody has any trouble with my instructions above they can email me here at CanandaiguaGlimpses@frontiernet.net and I'll try and help sort it out for you.
KEEP ON GLIMPSING!!!

We Have A New Email Address

Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying the pictures posted here at 'Canandaigua Glimpses'.
I have changed the email address for the website as I need to try and keep my personal email separate from the email for here. That will make my life as Site Administrator a little easier. Here is the new address ...
Please be sure to update your address book.
You can email any picture submissions or anything pertaining to this website to this new address.
Also, here is the RSS address for those of you who use a news reader ...
You don't know what RSS is???
RSS stands for 'real simple syndication' and it is a very convenient way to access all your news/blog sites in one place. The news reader I use is called 'FeedReader' and it is an open source project and a completely FREE download. Here is their homepage ...
Check it out and download & install it if you think it is something you'll find convenient (like I do). If you need any help setting it up for the 'Canandaigua Glimpses' news feed just email me at the address above and I'll try and help.
Well, I guess that's all for now. Remember to ...
Keep on 'Glimpsing'!

New Features

Hi everyone,

I hope you will all take the time to notice some of the work I've been doing on the site and hopefully you'll enjoy and find useful what I've done.

First I've added a Google search feature where you can search the web for photos (or anything else for that matter) right from this page.

Next you'll find a link to 'Open Office.Org' . This is a free alternative to Microsoft Office that I truly believe in. It has all the conveniences of MS Office and does all the same things without all the security issues and Microsoft 'Bugs'. And best of all it's 'FREE'!

Then I added a message board to the righthand side of the page (right under the profile of yours truly). It's called 'Tagboard' and is provided by Tag-World. A nifty little tool that you can leave messages on the webpage with along with a few 'smiley emoticons'.

On the bottom footer you will see another search feature that is provided by Technorati. This allows you to search this or any other websites linked to this one to find a specific posting or picture. This should increase the traffic to this website and thus it's popularity.

At the top of the page, just under the header bar, is another new feature ... a guestbook. Here guests to the site can sign a guest register and leave thoughts or comments if they like.

And last, on the very bottom of the page is a traffic counter that keeps track of how many visitors the page has over time.

That's about all for now but I expect to have more in the future.
